The Ocoee River offers endless challenges to the river runner. Its Class III-IV whitewater is ideal for fine-tunning intermediate to advanced down river skills.
The curriculum is divided into two areas:
Navigational Maneuvers -- This course focuses on eddy work and running rapids. Our coaches will help you master peel-outs, eddy turns, and ferries. We will show you how to properly use your kayak's edge how to position your body for peak performance, and how to hone your strokes. We also focus on the Ocoee itself, which can intimidate the most confident paddler. We'll show you how to avoid the rafts and find lines appropriate for your skill level. This course is designed for the competent Class III paddler who already possesses basic skills. Based on your abilities and goals, we will show you how to paddle with confidence.
Down river Play boating -- This complements the Navigational Maneuvers course. You must have good control of edging in order to participate. We focus on the popular play moves: front surfing, hole spins, and stern squirts. Our goal is for you to perfect these basic play moves and perform them with style.
Strong river running skills are the backbone of kayaking. Improving these skills is essential for maximum fun. Allow our coaches to help make you a better paddler.
